Helicopter

My neighbor was using a helicopter to work on a dock. He actually landed on this dock. It provided a little excitement for an otherwise relaxed day.

Fireworks

Hills resort always puts on a great 4th of July show. The view is best if you go out on the boat. It is really cool to hear the big fireworks echo through the mountains.

Butterflies in the sand

I don't know what it is, but the butterflies seem to like to gather on the wet sand near the waters edge. Not only swallowtails, I have seen several varieties. The swallowtails are the most numerous though.

Indian Rock

This is indian rock. It is named this because it has some old indian paintings on it. Very cool.

Chimney rock and the Roothans

This is chimney rock and the double peaks of the Roothan mountain as seen from the lake. This photo was taken mid-May and you can see there is still plenty of snow. Chimney rock is a popular spot for mountain climbers. It is a rock spire, the wide side is facing the lake.

Full moon rising over kalispell

This was taken with an inexpensive telephoto lense. The focus looks OK, as the autofocus was failing in these condition, and I had to switch to manual. Perhaps it would look better with a tripod as I had a hard time holding the camera still.

Our Lake Place...

This is one of the early photos of my place at the lake. It shows the progress made with placing sod between the wall and the cabin. Must have been taken in 2004.

Wading in cold water

The water temperature was no higher than 38 degrees, but the kids wanted to wade out in the shallows.

Big Mackinaw

This is a photo of Lucas with the biggest lake trout he has caught. It was 36" long and weighed almost 17 lbs! He holds the record now, but his grandpa is looking to change that. Good Luck!

A double rainbow

We get some spectacular storms on the lake. This is a photo of a double rainbow with Kalispell island in the background. Once while fishing off the dock I noticed my brothers hair standing on end. He said mine was doing the same. We immediately ran into the cabin to avoid getting struck by lightening. What a spooky feeling.

The lake from Roothan

This picture was taken from a popular hiking trail that leads to a great panaramic view of chimney rock. Some guy just happened to get in the way when the picture was taken.

This tree smells peculiar...

This is the "infamous shoe tree" up by granite creek. I think I have a pair of work shoes on this ancient cedar.

This is an Oldie....

This photo was taken from the "old mine" on the hill behind my cabin. At this time I had no idea that I would own a place on the lake. I'm the one in the highly contrasting coat. This must have been taken close to 25 yrs ago.

eesh, my goofy friends

This sandbar is usually about 3' underwater. My goofy friends are posing like they are "walking on water". This photo was taken during spring break 2006.

A nice froggy day...

This, being the first attempt at a blog post, may have a few technical errors. I hope to share a few photos such as these...
